Western diet may raise risk of death following cancer diagnosis (June 2, 2015 - Insidermedicine) From Boston - A new report published in Cancer Prevention Research finds that a western diet may heighten risk of death following a cancer diagnosis. Researchers studied nearly 1,000 prostate cancer patients taking part in a long term study. Participants were followed for an average of 14 years following their diagnosis. Results showed that those who ate mostly a Western diet (comprised of high fat dairy foods, refined grains and red and processed meats, were 2.5x more likely to die from their disease, and 67% increased risk of death overall.
